Objective:

The primary objective of the project was to resolve Multidisciplinary Clashes quickly and efficiently and create a clash-free, coordinated Revit BIM model.

Project Summary:

Our client availed our Clash Detection and BIM Coordination Services for a Hospital building project in Europe. The scope involved clash resolution for three crucial aspects: Architecture Model and MEP Services, Structural Model and MEP Services, and internal MEP Services. The client provided comprehensive Revit files for MEP, Architectural, and Structural models.

The project demanded speed as there was a lot of pressure to start construction.  A significant number of clashes of more than hundred thousand were identified to be resolved for the building blocks assigned to us. We immediately allocated 4 MEP Clash Coordination Specialists on the project. The rules, policies and constraints documents for clash resolution were provided to our team to follow while re-routing the services. Weekly stake holders meetings were scheduled to discuss progress and solutions to difficult clashes.

Challenges:

The primary challenges faced by our experts included:

  • Tight Delivery Deadlines: We were brought in at a stage when the timelines were short and had no room for missing milestones and targets assigned.
  • Ceiling Space Constraints: A major challenge arose during the routing of ducts within the building, particularly due to limited ceiling space. This presented a challenge in maintaining the integrity of the MEP services while adhering to spatial restrictions. Queries and assumptions were methodically compiled, transformed into issues, and submitted for client approval.
  • Tolerance Requirement: The clash detection process was executed with a 1mm tolerance, aligning with the specific client request. This precision demanded a meticulous approach to ensure accurate identification and resolution of clashes within the specified limits.

Project Deliverables:

Our team successfully resolved all clashes within stipulated timelines for which we had to also work on the weekends or in double shifts. The culmination of the project resulted in the delivery of a coordinated Revit model which had the successful resolution of clashes across Architecture, Structural, and MEP services.

Conclusion:

The project showcased our ability and commitment to delivering precise and effective clash detection services within challenging timelines. Despite facing challenges related to duct routing and adherence to tight tolerances, our team ensured the successful coordination of diverse services within the BIM model. The client received a fully coordinated Revit representation of the upcoming commercial structure.Want to know more about our BIM Coordination and Clash Detection Services or need help with your upcoming project, contact us to hire our experts or to request a free quote.
